Markel International has made two further senior appointments to its Terra Nova P&I team, further bolstering its position in the market following the appointment in December 2003 of John Hearn as P&I Underwriter. Vivien Frew joins the team as a senior claims handler while Richard Ellis will assist John Hearn with underwriting.

Vivien, who previously worked for the Standard Steamship Owners P&I Association, has worked in marine insurance for the last 20 years specialising in claims handling. Richard Ellis, who joins from Everard Insurance Brokers, is a P&I and Hull specialist with over 30 years’ broking experience in the UK, European and North and South American markets.  Both will be taking up their new positions on 1st March.

John Hearn said: “These appointments underline our commitment to the P&I market and will help ensure that our clients get the very best claims and underwriting expertise when they deal with Terra Nova. Vivien and Richard have many years of experience in this industry and their knowledge will greatly benefit both existing and new clients.”
