Markel International, the specialty property and casualty insurer, has announced the appointment of Ian Smith as Hull & War Underwriter within its Marine & Energy division. Ian joins the division to write commercial hull business, yachts and war risks and will strengthen the underwriting capability of the existing team.
Paul Jenks, Managing Director of Markel’s Marine & Energy division commented. “Ian’s extensive experience will make him an extremely valuable member of the team. He has worked in a variety of roles and his skills, experience and commitment to underwriting profitability will be invaluable to the continued success of the division.”
Ian joins Markel International from Royal Sun Alliance where he held the position of hull underwriter. Ian brings with him over 20 years of underwriting experience.
