Markel International, the specialty property and casualty insurer, has appointed Alessandro Lezzi as senior professional indemnity and directors’ and officers’ liability underwriter.  

He will focus on developing Markel’s portfolio of international clients with a particular emphasis on Southern Europe and Latin America.

Lezzi has over nine years’ experience in the insurance sector. Before joining Markel he spent over four years as international liability underwriter for Beazley Group syndicate 623/2623.

Prior to that, he worked for HCC Global Financial Products as underwriter for Southern Europe. He was also a divisional director at Willis Limited managing the Italian PI and D&O desk.

Lezzi will report to David Jones, managing director of Markel International’s Professional Liability Division.

David Jones said: “Alessandro’s experience and linguistic abilities will be a major asset to the team and will strengthen our position as a major market leader for all classes of International Professional Liability."
