Markel International announced today that Nicholas Line, Chief Actuary at the international property and casualty insurer, has been elected to the Board of Markel International Insurance Company Ltd and Markel Syndicate Management, effective June 1, 2008.

Nicholas Line joined Markel in 1997. Having served as Chief Actuary since 2003, with a seat on the Senior Management Group, he now sits on Markel International’s executive committee and is not only responsible for the day-to-day management of the actuarial function but plays a major role in the progressive development of the company in London.

Commenting on the announcement, Gerry Albanese, president and COO of Markel International said, “Nicholas’ pragmatic attitude and unadulterated professionalism leaves me in no doubt that this appointment to the Board will allow us to continue to deliver our business objectives  and move the company forward.  I want to congratulate Nicholas on this well-deserved appointment.”
