Markel International, the specialty property and casualty insurer, has appointed Simon Wilson to the role of director, international development.
Simon joins Markel International from Lloyd’s where, for the past three years, he was Lloyd's general representative in Singapore and managing director of Lloyd’s Asia. During this time, Simon oversaw the successful development of the Singapore platform which now incorporates 17 Lloyd’s syndicates.
Simon’s responsibilities at Markel International will include project work and international business development. He will be based in London, although initially he will be seconded to Markel International’s Singapore office.
Prior to joining Lloyd’s Asia, Simon was the manager of international strategy and licence development for Lloyd’s Worldwide Markets, where he was responsible for the international research capability. He was also involved in the establishment of Lloyd’s China. Before joining Lloyd’s, Simon was a management consultant in the specialist financial services group at Deloitte Consulting.
