Markel International Limited, the specialty property and casualty insurer, has appointed Louisa Lu as the products liability underwriter for its Singapore office.
Peter Phillips, Managing Director of Markel International Singapore commented, “We are delighted to have Louisa join the team and believe her ten plus years of experience writing products liability in Asia will be key to building the book over the coming years. We see significant opportunities for Markel to offer this class of business in the region given the level of exporting activity, in particular to the US.”
Richard Fricker, Director for Overseas Offices added, “We opened our doors for business in Singapore a year ago and in that time have been able to build an offering of six core underwriting products. The addition of Louisa is key to developing our underwriting capabilities throughout the Asia region.”
Louisa joins Markel from the Taiwan branch of AIU Insurance Company. She has a Diploma in Banking & Insurance from Ming Chuan Commercial College, Taiwan, a BA in Finance from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Business Management in Insurance and Finance from the College of Insurance, Taiwan.
