Markel's Barcelona office opened at the beginning of 2011, and is part of Markel International Espana. It serves the Catalan market and focuses on general liability, professional liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, and professional indemnity lines. The office is supported by Markel’s other Spanish office, in Madrid, and all the resources of the worldwide Markel organisation.
The Markel brand is highly rated in Spain. A survey, conducted in 2010 by Adecose, an independent association of Spanish insurance brokers, identified Markel as a leader for competitive prices, clear insurance policies, strong management and claims settlement.
